It is with immense joy and gratitude that we welcome you to the official website of Mount Carmel School, Shimoga. Our school with the motto, ‘For Excellence We Strive’ is dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child, inspired by the philosophy that ‘education is a process of drawing out human potentialities’. Educere (in Latin) means bringing out the best that already lies within. As Edith Stein aptly said, "A human person is capable of developing oneself to the fullest, and it is in the realization of moral excellence that human fulfillment is attained."

‘Mount Carmel’ takes its name from the beautiful mountain rising from the Mediterranean Sea, renowned for its verdant beauty and serene atmosphere. The word Carmel has its origins in Hebrew, where it is spelled as כַּרְמֶל (Karmel). It means garden, symbolizing growth, nurturing atmosphere, and abundance. In 2018, the Carmelites brought this legacy to Shimoga, establishing Mount Carmel School under the patronage of Our Lady of Mount Carmel to provide holistic education rooted in moral and ethical values.

At Mount Carmel School, children are like seeds planted in fertile soil. They are nurtured in an environment that is serene, value-driven, and growth-oriented. Here, every child is watered daily with lessons in integrity, righteousness, upright living, and discipline. Our goal is to help students blossom into individuals of moral, social, ethical, emotional, cultural, political beings, with environmental awareness, contributing positively to society.

Mount Carmel School, managed by Carmel Jnana Education Trust, is a minority institution run by the Catholic Carmelite Fathers of the Karnataka-Goa Province.
